Pillar 1 of the Life Domination Blueprint. New here? Start with the Blueprint overview.
Your body already knows how to eat. Mankind has run on real food for millennia. Eating healthy only got complicated after decades of modern marketing that made a simple thing feel impossible.
So forget the diet wars and trends. Nourish is built on one idea: eat food your body recognizes, and most of the confusion disappears.
This is the foundation pillar. Get it right and your energy, focus, training, sleep, and mood all rise together. Get it wrong and every other pillar fights an uphill battle. You can't out-train, out-supplement, or out-willpower a broken diet. Everything starts here.
You Don't Need a Diet. You Need a Compass.
A diet is a set of rules you follow until you quit. A compass is a sense of direction you keep for life.
The compass is simple: if it was grown, raised, or caught and hasn't been wrecked in a factory, eat it. If it was built in a lab to be addictive, skip it. That single filter handles most of your decisions before you ever read a label.
Real food does more than feed you. It rebuilds you. The protein becomes your muscle. The fat becomes your hormones and brain. The minerals become the spark that runs every cell. You are, in the most literal sense, made of what you eat. So the question for every meal is just this: am I building myself, or breaking myself down?
The 7 Food Rules
These are the working rules of the compass. None of them require tracking or perfection. They just keep you pointed the right way.
1. Eat real, whole foods. Build meals around grass-fed and pasture-raised meats, wild-caught fish, organic seasonal produce, full-fat dairy if you tolerate it, raw nuts and seeds, fermented foods, bone broth, and organ meats. The fewer ingredients on the label, the better.
2. Prioritize high-quality protein. Protein is the most satisfying macronutrient and the raw material for muscle, metabolism, and repair. Anchor every meal with it, starting with breakfast.
3. Treat fat as a friend, not a threat. Your brain, hormones, and mitochondria run on healthy fats. Eat avocados, olives, coconut, grass-fed butter, ghee, tallow, and raw nuts. Cut the industrial seed oils (canola, corn, soybean, safflower, sunflower) completely. They are the quiet driver of inflammation in the modern diet.
4. Remove the metabolic trash. Refined wheat, sugary cereals, sodas, candy, and "healthy" processed snacks crash your energy and feed cravings. Treat sugar like alcohol: an occasional conscious indulgence, never a daily default.
5. Eat in a window that works for you. Fasting isn't magic, but a simple 12-hour overnight fast gives your gut a break and steadies your blood sugar. Work toward 16:8 only if it feels good, and break your fast with protein and fat.
6. Hydrate like it matters. Most people are quietly dehydrated. Start the day with 16 to 24 oz of water, add minerals if you sweat or fast, and choose filtered or mineral water over plastic bottles.
7. Eat to perform, not just to fill. Every bite either fuels you or drains you. Before you eat, ask one question: which is this?
I break all seven down with examples and swaps in Simplified Nutrition: 7 Food Rules That Make Eating Healthy Easy Again.
Minerals: The Spark Most People Are Missing
Vitamins get the attention. Minerals do the work. They are the electrical current that runs your body, and without them, hydration doesn't actually hydrate. No minerals, no voltage, no performance.
Your mitochondria can't make energy efficiently without magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iron. And the modern world drains them fast: depleted soil, purified water, chronic stress, and processed food all rob your reserves. The result shows up as fatigue, poor recovery, and that flat, foggy feeling people blame on everything else.
The fix is daily, not occasional. Use a high-quality salt with trace minerals, mineralize your water, drink bone broth, and prioritize mineral-rich foods like red meat, seafood, eggs, and leafy greens. Magnesium before bed is the single change most people feel fastest.

The True Superfoods
Skip the imported powders and marketing. The real superfoods are simple, local, and time-tested: grass-fed red meat, wild-caught fatty fish, pasture-raised eggs, bone broth, raw grass-fed dairy, low-sugar organic berries, fermented foods, oysters and shellfish, sprouts and microgreens, and raw honey.
The standout is organ meat. Liver and heart are nature's multivitamin, loaded with vitamins A, D, E, K2, and CoQ10 in a form your body actually absorbs. One serving a week does more than most supplement stacks.
Build your meals around these and you don't need to chase nutrients. You're already getting them.

Prioritize Gut Health
You can eat a perfect plate and still come up short. Food is only half of nutrition. The other half is whether your gut can break it down and pull the nutrients in. A great meal wasted on a struggling gut still leaves you running on empty.
This is one of my specialties I've trained in as a coach, and it's the first place I look when someone feels off. Your gut runs far more than digestion. It houses most of your immune system, produces most of your serotonin, and stays in constant conversation with your brain. When it's compromised, the effects show up everywhere: mood, energy, sleep, skin, and focus. Fix the gut and a surprising number of other complaints quiet down on their own, because they were downstream of it the whole time.
The basics that protect it: eat calm and chew your food, cut the processed junk and seed oils that inflame the lining, repair with bone broth, and feed your microbiome with fermented foods and prebiotic fiber like garlic, onions, and leafy greens. Do that consistently and your food, your training, and your supplements finally do what they're supposed to.

Supplement With Intention, Not FOMO
Supplements are the last 10%, not the foundation. You should be getting most of your nutrients from food. The rule: if you don't know why you're taking something, don't take it.
A handful are widely useful and low-risk when sourced well: magnesium, vitamin D3 with K2, omega-3s, creatine, electrolytes, essential amino acids, and collagen. Most people feel a difference from those alone. Be cautious with isolated minerals, hormone-modifying herbs, and proprietary blends that hide their dosages. Add one thing at a time, track how you feel, and keep only what earns its place.
Food first, always. Supplements fill gaps.
How Nourish Powers the Rest
When you eat better, you think clearer, train harder, sleep deeper, and recover faster. Stable blood sugar steadies your mood and your focus. Real fats build the hormones that drive your energy and your workouts. Minerals run the recovery you'll lean on in Rest and Move.
Nourish is the foundation the other nine pillars stand on. That's why it's first.
Start Here
You don't need to overhaul everything tonight. Pick one move and run it this week:
Throw out one seed oil and replace it with butter, ghee, or olive oil.
Anchor every meal with a quality protein, starting with breakfast.
Start your morning with 16 to 24 oz of mineralized water.
Add one serving of organ meat or a nutrient-dense animal food this week.
Add a daily fermented food or a cup of bone broth to support your gut.
Master one, then stack the next. Small, consistent upgrades are what change your body. Not perfection.
